Lights and Green, Yuhi-no-oka, Sakuragaoka Park

Sakuragaoka Park is a little far from Seisekisakuragaoka Station.
In that article, I wrote it is better to use bus.
But actually I walked to park.
In the way to Sakuragaoka Park, I found beautiful and interesting places.
So I’ll introduce them in this article.

Outside of station, there are post and map.

This post is “Post of springtime of life”.
People can post a letter written about their dream.
This is not real post. So letters are not delivered.
Letters are preserved.

Now I’m center below.
My first purpose is to go “Rotary”(Right top).

On the way to Rotary, I introduce some places.
So I marked and added English title.

Seisekisakuragaoka is model of ‘s animation movie “Whisper of the Heart” directed by Yoshifumi Kondo in 1995.
It is based on the same title manga written by Aoi Hiiragi in 1989.
So if you watch it you can find similar places in movie.

Let’s start walking along the road.

Around the station there were colorful manholes.

Irohazaka is famous for Nikko City, Tochigi Prefecture. There are many steep curved slopes.
So steep curved slope is also called as “Irohazaka” in other places Japan.
Iroha is an order of Japanese Hiragana letter. There are 47 or 48 letters.
Nowadays aiueo…order is used in Japanese educational scene.
Iroha was often used until end of Edo period(1601-1867). First appearance in document is 1079.
In addition to studying letters, Iroha was used as numbering or classification like alphabet.
Irohazaka in Nikko has 48 curves. To count number curves were named “i” “ro” “ha”…

Here are 3 curves at Seisekisakuragaoka’s Irohazaka.

Iroha has also poetic meaning.
More information below. *I referred Japanese Wikipedia. It is a little different from English version.
