If you hear night view in Tokyo, you may imagine tall skyscrapers at central Tokyo.
In this article, I introduce night view of Tama area.
This is view from Yuhi-no-oka, Sakuragaoka Park, located Tama City, Tokyo, Japan.
Yuhi-no-oka means “Sun set hill”. Here can enjoy beautiful evening and night view.

Nearest station is Keio Line Seisekisakuragaoka Station.
It takes about 30 minutes to get to Seisekisakuragaoka from Shinjuku.
Here is not included in Tokyo’s 23 wards.
Tokyo’s 23 wards are called 「都内(Tonai)」.
Other areas of Tokyo are called 「都下(Toka)」.
Here is a map of Tokyo from Wikipedia. Cities and towns are called Toka.

Many people commute from Toka to Tonai everyday. There is bed town of Tokyo.
And there is full of nature.
It takes about 20 minutes to walk to Sakuragaoka Park from Seisekisakuragaoka Station. So I recommend to go by bus.
And please get off “Kinenkan-mae” bus stop. 5 minutes walk from there.
Sakuragaoka Park is vast. If you enter from other entrances, Yuhi-no-oka is a little far.
Actually, I walked in the park.

Sakuragaoka Park is full of nature. If you walk around park, please put on easy walking clothes.

These things are prohibited in the center of the park.
Please do not release pets freely. And do not let pets drink water directly from faucet.

Former Tama Seiseki Memorial Hall is located in the park. It was built in 1930 for memorial of several visiting of Emperor Meiji in 1880s.
It can been seen influence of Vienna Secession and Jugendstil.


Here is Yuhi-no-oka. Footpath is well prepared. If only here, special gears are not needed.

Here is small hill and can look around. So refreshing place!

Evening scene.
Though here is Yuhi-no-oka(Sunset hill), in fact,sunset is not possible to watch!
Here is facing east.
But calm evening over Tama area is so beautiful:)




If you want to watch Sunset, it is better to move “Asobi-no-hiroba”.
It is purple in the map. It takes 2,3 minutes along street on foot from Yuhi-no-oka.
Here is Asobi-no-hiroba. “Asobi-no-hiroba” means “playing place”. Here are some playing equipments.
Drink vending machine is near here.
It was Zebra time!

In sunny clear day, here can see Mt.Fuji.

A tree silhouette was beautiful in front of gradation sky.

Many trees, faint lights, here may not best place to watch sunset and Mt.Fuji, but I always become happy to watch Mt.Fuji during sunset.


Let’s return to Yuhi-no-oka.

After sunset, city begins shining.

Kawasaki-kaido street is front, Tama River is center.
Buildings on the left is around Seisekisakuragaoka Station. Center over the bridge is around Keio Line Nakagawara Station.
On the right,there is a tower. It is Sky Tower Nishi-Tokyo(generally called ” Tanashi Tower”) located Nishi-Tokyo City. Here can see broad area.

Close up of Tama River. There are many shiny bridges.

Night time from below. Here is so dark at night.

Green and shiny city. This scene make me feel harmony of lights and green.


Close up of around Seisekisakuragaoka Station.

Here is separated three level height. If you change shooting height,there will be appear a little different angle.
There are some benches. It may good to take a rest with sitting on benches.

Here is so popular that crowded on weekend.
If it is possible I recommend to go weekdays.
In Spring Sakuragaoka Park is full bloom of 8 hundreds of Cherry blossom.
Please enjoy walking around park and Yuhi-no-oka together!
