I got off the train and walked toward Sumida River.
Then I found huge ball sculpture at the entrance of the bridge.
I could not understand what this is.
So I examined it. It was rocket firework!
Here is Ryogokubashi Bridge,Sumida River,Tokyo,Japan. Nearest station is Ryogoku Station.
Ryogoku has various traditional culture.
First is fireworks. In August, there is huge fireworks festival at Sumida River.
So there was sculpture of rocket fireworks.
I will introduce another famous traditional culture later.
These are view from Ryogoku side.
Small bridge on the right is Yanagibashi Bridge.
It has good atmosphere. I’ll introduce another article someday.
Ryogoku means both countries.
First bridge was constructed in 1659 or 1661.Not determined. But Edo period.
It was named “O-Hashi” (means large bridge).
But at that time, west side of the bridge was Musashi Province, east side was Shimousa Province.
So people called this bridge “Ryogokubashi Bridge” (means both province bridge).
In 1693,Shin-Ohashi bridge was constructed. And Ryogokubashi Bridge became official name.
Place was located more downstream.
This bridge is second oldest bridge at Sumida River.
And it was selected Tokyo-Metropolitan-Selected Historical Buildings in 2008 with Kototoibashi Bridge.
Kototoibashi Bridge is also bridge at Sumida River. I’ll introduce it in this blog later.
And these are view from opposite side(Nihonbashi side). With Skytree.
Under the bridge. Cool steal.
At night. I took this photo 120mm zoom.Lights are strong. So reflection is huge.
Here is middle between Ryogokubashi Bridge and Shin-Ohashi Bridge.
I found mysterious decoration at the fence of the river. It looked like character.
There is Shin-Ohashi Bridge on the right.
With highway. This highway is Metropolitan Expressway No. 6 Mukojima line.
I have introduced in former article.

I found graffiti in the air.
I took photos from here. Here is located middle of the bridge.
Did you noticed here is designed 土俵(Dohyou). Dohyou is ring of 相撲(Sumo fighting).
And this is design of bridge’s fence.
This is design of 軍配(Gunbai). Gunbai is used in Sumo fighting by 行司(Gyoji). Gyoji is referee of Sumo fighting. Beautiful pattern of shadow.
There are “The Ryogoku Kokugikan Sumo Arena” at Ryogoku.
Sumo fighting is held there.
This is second famous traditional culture of Ryogoku.
So Sumo design is seen at Ryogokubashi Bridge.
